SYNOPSIS OF STATED MEETING April 26th, 2008

The Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000 A.F. & A.M. was held on April 26, 2008 at Pasadena Lodge No. 1155 in Pasadena, TX.

Worshipful Master T.J. Ramey called the Lodge to labor at 11:01 AM.

The Worshipful Master then led the Lodge in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States and Texas flags.

The Worshipful Master expressed his thanks to the members of Charles W. Anderson Lodge No. 1413 for hosting this Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000.

After the opening ceremonies the Worshipful Master welcomed the brethren and recognized the following dignitaries.

The Minutes of the Stated Meeting held at Charles W. Anderson were read and approved.

The Treasurer, PM Marion DeVore., presented the Treasurer’s report. Motion was made and seconded to accept his report. Motion passed.

The Secretary reported the following status of our membership.

Dues paying members 704
Active Endowed Members 331
50 year members 23
Active Membership 1,063
Total Endowed Members 375
Deaths 5 deaths were reported

Ten (10) applications for regular membership were presented. One (1) new Endowed member was presented to the membership. One (1) member upgraded his membership to Endowed member. All the new member applications, new endowed member and upgraded member were voted on and approved.

The deaths of five brothers were read and Chaplain Jack Coffey offered a prayer for these departed brothers and their families.

The next Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge will be in Waco Lodge No. 92 on July 19, 2008. Please check the website for time and place.

Announcements were made by several brothers on upcoming events.

Secretary Cockrell reminded the Brothers that Brother Danny Hammers works on the website and keeps it current. Anyone that wishes to add anything to the website should submit it through the Secretary for approval by Worshipful Master Ramey.

SD Elmer Murphey, III talked about a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit foundation for the Lodge. He explained that there was 2 documents that needed to be accepted by the Lodge before the Foundation could start.. He then explained that the goals of the Tranquility Lodge Foundation would be as follows:
• To help Lodges
• To help Masons
• To help children
These goals would be word wide and not limited to the United States.

JW Sargent gave a report on the Called meeting at Milan Lodge No. 2. He presented a copy of the speech that was given by Sergeant Greg Sowell of the Nacogdoches Police Department. This copy along with a video will be place at the Grand Lodge Library in the area that has been set up for Tranquility Lodge No. 2000. JW Sargent is making the video available to anyone that desires to have a copy.

SW Burke invited everyone to try and attend the Masonic Oak on Sunday May, 17 2008 This is going to be the 60th year that this event has been happening. He invited anyone that so desire to come to his house on Saturday night for fellowship and food.

The Claims & Accounts were read by the Secretary, voted on and ordered paid.

Worshipful Master T.J. Ramey thanked all for coming and he hoped to see everyone on July 19, 2008 at Waco Lodge No. 92 in Waco. This is the Stated meeting for the election of next years officers. The Stated Meeting at Waco Lodge will begin at 11:00 AM.

The Master Mason’s Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 12:58 PM.

This Called Meeting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000 meet at Milan Lodge No. 2 on a beautiful Saturday for the purpose of dedicating the granite memorial markers that are to be placed at the locations named below. . This memorial service was to remember the Columbia astronauts that lost their lives in their effort to further advance the United States in our quest of outer space.

The out door meeting was called to order by WM T.J. Ramey. The Lodge was opened with prayer. Pledge to the United States flag was by Edward “Buzz” Wagner, SW of Milan Lodge No. 2, pledge to the Texas flag was by Billy Perkins, JW of Milan No. 2. Introduction of guests was done by JW Don Sargent of Tranquility Lodge. WM Ramey introduced Mr. Rodney Rocha, Chief Engineer for Structural Engineering Division at NASA Johnson Space Center and thanked him and his wife for being here today. WM Ramey then spoke on the gift of the granite slabs to Tranquility Lodge by Bill and Marty Daum and the effort of those who had worked on the proper inscription to be on each of the markers. He also thanked Austin Stone Works for cutting the slabs into the proper sizes and L.W. Stolz Monument Company for preparing the stones with the wording that had been selected for this permanent memorial to the fallen hero’s of the our NASA Space program. The markers will be placed at Milan Lodge No. 2, Redland Lodge No. 3, Littleton- Fowler Lodge No. 305 and Carthage Lodge No. 521. The program was then turned over to Brother Greg Sowell, PM of Milan Lodge No. 2 and Public Information Officer of the Nacogdoches Police Department. Brother Sowell gave a detail account of the events of the tragic day and how it has affected his city and himself. Candles were then lit for each of the astronauts and each of their names was recited aloud. The program ended in a silent prayer for the lost lives and surviving family’s members. WM Ramey thanked all that came and the meeting was closed in prayer.

In closing, I would like to add this comment. I have been to many programs that honor Brothers, Past Masters, Past Grand Masters, Grand Masters, however I will never again attend anything that I felt did more to bring honor to our great Fraternity than that of attending the Memorial Service for our Columbia astronauts. Our Fraternity and more especially our Lodge will always be remembered as Americans, Texans and Masons who continue to lead in all worthy endeavors such as this Memorial Service. WM Ramey, SW Vernon Burke, JW Don Sargent, PM Bob Glasgow and all that helped on this once in a lifetime occasion should be thanked for their effort. Eight applications for regular membership were presented. Two new Endowed members were presented to the membership. Two members upgraded their membership to Endowed member. All the application and upgrades were voted on and approved.

The deaths of five brothers were read and Chaplain Jack Coffey offered a prayer for these departed brothers and their families.

The next Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge will be in Pasadena at Pasadena Lodge No. 1155 on April 26, 2008. Please check the website for time and place.

The minutes of the Called Meeting at Scurry Lodge No. 706 in Snyder on November 17, 2007 were read and approved. This was a Called Meeting to inform the Brothers in the west part of Texas about Tranquility Lodge No. 2000.

Worshipful Master T. J. Ramey discussed with the Brothers in attendance that there would be a Called Meeting on February 2, 2008 starting at 2:00 PM at Milam Lodge No. 2 in Nacogdoches for the purpose of dedicating the granite slabs from the remodeling of the State Capitol of Texas that had been given to Tranquility Lodge. These granite slabs with inscriptions will be placed in memory of the astronauts that lost their lives over Texas skies on February 1, 2003. These markers will be placed at Milam Lodge No.2, Redline Lodge No. 3, Littleton Fowler Lodge No. 305 and Carthage Lodge No. 521.

Announcements were made by several brothers on upcoming events.

The Time and Place committee will submit their proposed meeting dates for the year 2009 at the Stated meeting in Pasadena. These will be put on the website.

The Worshipful Master expressed his thanks to the Officers and members of Arlington Lodge No. 438 for hosting this Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000.

After the opening ceremonies the Worshipful Master welcomed the brethren and recognized the following dignitaries.

The Minutes of the Stated Meeting held at Waco 92 were read and approved with corrections. The Called meeting held on July 31, 2007 were read and approved.

The Treasurer, Marion DeVore, presented the Treasurer’s report. Motion was made and seconded to accept his report. Motion passed.

Twelve applications for regular membership were presented. There were no new Endowed members were presented to the membership. Two members upgraded their membership to Endowed members. All the applications and upgrades were voted on and approved.

The deaths of three brothers were read and Chaplain Jack Coffey offered a prayer for these departed brothers and their families.

There will be a special called meeting held at Scurry Lodge No. 706 in Snyder, TX on November 17, 2007.

The next meeting of Tranquility Lodge will be in Charles W. Anderson 1413 on January 12, 2008. Please check the website for time and place.

The Time and Place committee submitted their propose meeting dates for the year 2007 and 2008. These will be put on the website.

Worshipful Master Ramey stated that the memorial marker ceremony for the astronauts that lost their lives on February 1, 2003 will be held on February 2, 2008 at Milan Lodge No. 2.

Secretary Cockrell stated that there would be an increase in Tranquility Lodge aprons to those that require them to be mailed to them. The cost will be $85.00 each. You may still buy them for $80.00 each at the Stated and Called meetings.

PM Gene Carnes held the Election for Tranquility Lodge. There were no nominations from the floor. All those that had been nominated were elected to serve for the Masonic year 2007-2008.

The Lodge was called from labor to refreshment and the Officers were duly installed. The Lodge was then called fro refreshment to labor.

The annual meeting at the Masonic Oak, the birth place of Masonry in Texas near Lake Jackson will be Sunday May 20 starting at 10:00 AM with The Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Texas Donny Broughton being the guest speaker. There will be a BBQ luncheon following the speaker.

The Time and Place committee submitted their propose meeting dates for the year 2007 and 2008. These will be put on the website.

Grand Secretary Tom Guest of The Grand Lodge of Texas spoke concerning sending out additional information to blue Lodges to inform their membership about Tranquility Lodge No. 2000. WM Glasgow approved these documents that are to be sent. R W Guest about spoke about the possibility of a video. WM Glasgow asked RW Guest and Publicity Chairman SD Don Sargent to look into the cost and report back to the Lodge in Waco.

All Master Masons are encouraged to visit the Grand Lodge of Texas Library and Museum while in Waco. Tranquility Lodge has items from NASA on displayed there. There has been a new item added to the display at Grand Lodge. An apron that Honorary Past Master Buzz Aldrin wore has been given to the Library at Grand Lodge. It is located along with the other items on loan from NASA.

Worshipful Master Bob Glasgow thanked all for coming and he hoped to see everyone on July 21, 2007 at Waco Lodge No. 92 in Waco. The Stated meeting will begin at 11:00 AM. This is the stated meeting that we elect Officers for the next Masonic year.

Secretary Cockrell reported that the brothers had purchased an Endowed Membership for his work on the website.

RW James D. Ward, Chairman of the Library and Museum committee, stated that any member that donates $25.00 per year to the Grand Lodge Library will receive publications from the Grand Library.

RW Elmer Murphy III spoke to the membership about the difference of a 501c (3) and a 501c (10) non profit organization. He stated that the Texas Masonic Foundation was a 501c (3). Donations to a 501c (3) are tax deductible.

Grand Secretary Tom Guest, who is Chairman of the Membership Committee, spoke on forming world wide and state wide committees to help in recruiting membership. The secretary will mail out these letters after this meeting. If you can and want to serve, please notify the Secretary.

RW James D. Ward, Chairman of the Library and Museum committee, stated that any member that donates $25.00 per year to the Grand Lodge Library will receive publications from the Grand Library.

Thank you letter was read from Brother Herby Wallace. The lodge wishes Brother Wallace a speedy recovery.

Past Master Gene Carnes of Tranquility Lodge

The Minutes of the Stated Meeting held at League City Lodge No. 1053 were read and approved as noted.

The Treasurer, Marion DeVore., presented the Treasurer’s report. Motion was made and seconded to accept his report. Motion passed.

Eight applications for regular membership was presented to the Lodge, voted on and approved.

One member was reported have purchased an endowed membership in Tranquility Lodge.

The deaths of several brothers were read and Chaplain Jack Coffey offered a prayer for these departed brothers and their families.

The next meeting of Tranquility Lodge will be in Dallas / Ft. Worth area on October 21, 2006. Please check the website for time and place.

The Financial Assistance committee will give their findings on Webmaster Danny Hammers’ email request concerning a brother in need in Tenn. at the October meeting or before, if possible.

SW Bob Glasgow appointed the 2006-2007 Audit committee. These members can be found on the website under committees. All committee members may be found on the website.

Secretary Cockrell made mention of the fact that Brother Danny Hammers worked on the website and keeps it current. This has been a great help to Tranquility Lodge. Brother Hammers lives in Florida.

The election of officers for the Masonic year 2006-2007 of Tranquility Lodge was completed in due and ancient form. The lodge was called from labor to refreshment so that all in attendance be invited to enter the lodge room for the installation of officers. PM Gene Carnes was the Installing Master and PGM Leonard Harvey was the Installing Marshall.

Worshipful Master Bob Glasgow thanked all for coming and expressed his thanks for the privilege ofbeing elected to serve this lodge.

The Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000 A.F. & A.M. was held on April 15^th, 2006 at League City No. 1053 in League City, TX.

The Worshipful Master expressed his thanks to the members of League City Lodge No. 1053 for hosting this Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000.

After the opening ceremonies the Worshipful Master welcomed the brethren and recognized the following dignitaries.

Six applications for regular membership was presented to the Lodge, voted on and approved.

The deaths of several brothers were read and Chaplain Jack Coffey offered a prayer for these departed brothers and their families.

The next meeting of Tranquility Lodge will be in Waco and will be the election of officers for the Masonic year 2206-2007.

Webmaster Danny Hammers’s email was read to the lodge concerning a brother in need in Tenn. WM Paul Adkins referred this request to the Financial Assistance committee for their findings.

PGM Vernon Burke informed the Brothers that the 57^th Annual Masonic Oak will be the Sunday following Mother’s Day and will start at 10:00 AM. This is the birth place of Free Masonry in Texas.

The Stated Meeting of January 21^st, 2006 was held at Charles W. Anderson Lodge # 1413 in San Antonio, TX.

The Worshipful Master expressed his thanks to the members of Charles W. Anderson Lodge # 1413 for hosting this Stated Meeting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000.

After the opening ceremonies the Worshipful Master welcomed the brethren and recognized the following dignitaries.

The Minutes of the Stated Meeting held at Arlington Lodge # 438 were read and approved.

The Treasurer, Marion DeVore., presented the Treasurer’s report. Bother DeVore stated that he was moving some monies around to get a better rate of interest.

Four applications for regular membership was presented to the Lodge, voted on and approved.

The deaths of several brothers were read and Chaplain Jack Coffey offered a prayer for these departed brothers and their families.

Worshipful Master Adkins asked that SW Bob Glasgow work on renewing the trademark for the lodge.

Time and Place Committee Chairman, Bob Glasgow reported that the upcoming meetings would be at the following locations.

He also stated that he was looking at the possibility of asking the membership if they wanted to possible have 2 additional meetings each year. These would be in far East and West Texas. This will be further discussed at the April meeting.

The resolution to change our by laws to allow TL2K Clubs outside of Texas and the United States was read and approved. It will now be submitted to the Grand Lodge of Texas for approval.

The Stated Meeting of October 15th, 2005 was held at Arlington Lodge #438 in Arlington, TX.

Worshipful Master, Paul Adkins called the Lodge to labor at 11:00 am.

The Minutes of the Stated Meeting held at Waco Lodge# 92 were read and approved.

The Treasurer, Marion DeVore., presented the Treasurer’s report.

The annual audit was presented to the lodge by Marion DeVore, Gilbert Chafin and Charles B. Cockrell. Motion was made and seconded to accept the audit. Motion passed.

The Secretary reported the following status of our membership.
Enrollment to date 1,226 (increase of 3)
Endowed Members 338 (no increase or decrease)
Active Membership 1,132 (increase of 3)
Three applications for regular membership was presented to the Lodge, voted on and approved.
No deaths were reported.

Communications were read from the Grand Secretary’s office concerning the Endowed Members Fund and the amount of monies that each lodge can expect to receive. The secretary reported the amount that was received by Tranquility Lodge.

Worshipful Master Adkins asked that SW Bob Glasgow work on renewing the trademark for the lodge.

The letter sent to the Grand Lodge of Louisiana F. & A.M. concerning the damage to their southern lodges was read. It stated that Tranquility Lodge would be there to assist with money and help.

SS Fred Owen spoke on his concern that some members may not be coming because of the meetings being in different locations each time. He suggested that we select 4 locations and have our stated meetings in these locations each year. This was given to the Time and Place Committee to study and report back in January to the lodge.

July 22, 2006 Waco #92 Waco

R:W: Tom Guest gave a report on his visit to Annapolis Lodge. He stated that the brothers there were very interested in how to join Tranquility Lodge.

SW Bob Glasgow gave a report on his meeting with the trustees concerning the formation of TL2K clubs. R:W: Guest spoke on TL2K clubs and offered a change to the by-laws of Tranquility Lodge’s by-laws. After reading the proposed amendment, there was a motion and second to accept. This amendment will be voted upon at the January meeting.

Secretary Cockrell stated that is was time to contribute $100.00 to our sponsor child for the birthday and at Christmas presents. This will be done in two checks.

Announcements were made by several brothers on upcoming events.

The Claims & Accounts were read by the Secretary, voted on and ordered paid.

The Master Mason’s Lodge was closed at 12:20 pm.

Fifteen applications for regular membership was presented to the Lodge, voted on and approved.

R:W: W. Vernon Burke Jr. presented the report of the Nominating Committee. Those nominated for officers for 2005-2006 were:

A motion was made to accept the Nominating Committee’s recommendations. A vote of the Lodge was taken and the motion passed.

Time & Place Committee Chairman, Paul W. Adkins reported that the upcoming meetings would be at the following locations.

The Lodge received two requests for financial assistance. The Financial Assistance Committee carefully reviewed the requests. Committee Chairman, Paul W. Adkins reported that the committee was not in favor of granting the requests. A vote of the Lodge was taken and the requests were denied.

A motion was made to contribute $100.00 to our sponsor child at birthday time and at Christmas. This contribution to be reconsidered at the next July Stated Meeting.

The Worshipful Master held a discussion on the concept of outreach TL2K Clubs outside of our jurisdiction. The discussion was favorable and the Lodge moved to proceed. Brother Robert J. Glasgow stated that he would draft correspondence to the Grand Lodge Trustees requesting legalities.

Worshipful Master Tommy D. Guest called the Lodge from labor to refreshment for the purpose of holding an open installation of officers for the next term of office, July 2005 to July 2006.

Past Tranquility Lodge Master, Thomas E. “Gene” Carnes served as Installing Officer and R:W: Tommy D. Guest, Grand Secretary served as Installing Marshal.

The Stated Meeting of April 23, 2005 was held at League City Lodge #1053 in League City, TX.
